The Club's Olympian
Rachel Fenwick was recently honoured by her old school - King’s, Dublin – with a cap and a place in their Hall of Fame
Rachel is the club’s oldest member, playing at least once a week. However, her main sport is archery and she has a very distinguished part to play in British archery. Her career highlights include:
- Member of the British team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics
- Brussels 1978 - Competed as an individual at FITA (world governing body) tournament, broke 6 British records and earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records
- Member of GB Ladies team, 1981, Berlin - bronze medal
- Held the Double FITA round record for 10 years
- Represented GB at 3 European championships, finishing 11 in each
- Represented GB at The Spring Arrows in Moscow (1974) and Tiblisi, Georgia (1978) finishing 4
- Rachel was presented with an Olympic badge and certificate in 2018 (pic 4)
Pic 3 below shows Rachel scoring a 6 gold end at maximum distance - Magdelan College, Oxford. All the other archers at the tournament had to pay her 1 shilling (5p) for this achievement.
Rachel was appointed Club President at the club's summer lunch, July 2024 and presented with a rose bush.
Rachel is also President of the Wellington Bowmen which she co-founded in 2001
